On Our Radar: DTRT Men’s Skin Care

One of the biggest perks of working in the beauty business is all of the exposure to different products. Despite all of the Industrie team members’ differences, we all have one thing in common; we are product junkies. We love to smell them, try them and learn everything that we can about them. If it comes in a tube or a tub or a spray, we want to meet it. Every so often, we come across a product or company that really intrigues us with its personality.

Sure, we have lots of “old friend” product companies that we know and love because of their messaging, packaging, people behind the brands and of course, the quality of the products themselves. But no matter how many old faves we have, we’re always thrilled to make a new acquaintance.

Such is the case with the DTRT Men’s skin care line; we’ve only just met. While backstage at Richard Chai’s SS16 Men’s Fashion Week show, one of our editors spotted these products being used on the male models to prep their skin before they walked the runway. She reported back and we started digging.

So far, we’ve discovered that DTRT stands for “Do The Right Thing” and all their messaging comes from a standpoint of moral encouragement. Right off the bat this fact piqued our interest. Rest assured, we will be on the case to learn more about this company and its culture to satisfy everyone’s curiosity. For now, here are all of the products that were used backstage at Chai’s show to help make the introduction. Stay tuned!

DTRT Dear Matt Lotion

Designed for oily skin types, this face lotion aims to effectively eliminate oil by adhering to secreted sebum (the stuff that your skin makes to protect it) thus leaving skin matte and smooth. This lotion employs a five herb complex—chamomile, lavender, rosemary, sage, and peppermint—to reduce irritation and help control excessive sebum secretion. It aims to prevent serious skin concerns, like acne, by reducing the amount of sebum accumulated in pores, tightening those pores, and soothing irritated or inflamed skin.

DTRT Better Tomorrow Cream

This cream has a black, water-based jelly formulation for quick release hydration. White moisturizing capsules including mannitol and betaine increase hydration on skin by bursting upon application. Better Tomorrow also contains antioxidants like black bean and blackberry to provide energy to skin and maintain the balance of moisture and oil. This cream also contains ingredients that prevent signs of aging, like wrinkles for a “Better Tomorrow.”

DTRT Get Ready BB SPF 50+

Women have been coming around to BB creams for years, but men may not be so familiar. A BB cream is a “Beauty Balm” (which, if you think about it too hard makes the “cream” part of the name a little redundant) and they are essentially magic in a tube. BB creams smooth and even out complexions and usually provide a base of protection. DTRT’s BB cream contains organic lavender water, portulaca oleracea extract, and willow bark extract which have been known to moisturize and soothe stressed skin.
