Carole Haddad is no stranger to the hairdressing world. Immersed in the biz for over 20 years, and widely considered one of Australia’s most renowned, cutting-edge stylists, her work has won her many accolades, most notably the highly coveted title of Queensland Hairdresser of the Year in 2009.
Her masculine and wearable Men’s Category collection not only caught the Hair Expo judges’ attention but also ours. We couldn’t help but appreciate how each look can inspire the salon professional and the salon client.
A challenge male clients often face is finding a style that mirrors their personality; one that can be maintained. What you see here are translatable trends and exactly what Haddad wanted to achieve. “The one thing I am very proud of about this collection is these haircuts look exactly the same in real life,” added Haddad.
“A great haircut is all about the shape and I believe men’s trends should be wearable art and look strong and masculine. And all the models I chose have hair that has texture. It was something I wanted to work with. I also feel that hair colour is important—it finishes a haircut and it should be low maintenance.”
Finding the right models and photographer also played an important role in the success of this collection. “My photographer Glen is brilliant and he knows my work,” said Haddad. “The biggest obstacle in any photo shoot is the model must suit the look. I personally chose the models when I was out and about and I feel like they were the perfect choice for the looks I wanted to create.”
What is her favorite image from the collection?
“The model with the short haircut with the strong jawline who has the curls right at the front,” Haddad shared. “I love this photo. It is my hero shot and I think it looks great as a front cover.”
