Our site/publication is called Industrie and we spelled it with an “ie” on purpose—it’s the French way of spelling Industry and was once defined as an artisan who works with their hands to create things of beauty and substance. So tell us, how do you define beauty and substance?

Beauty is anything that makes you feel good and substance is what makes it important.

What other creative outlets do you explore/practice?

I went to college for textile design and although it was great it really didn’t fulfill me creatively like hairdressing does. I still collect different textiles, though, especially vintage pieces.

What’s your personal motto/favorite quote?

One time I heard Tabatha Coffey say that she was like a pit bull with a bow! That has always stuck with me. But the quote that I use for life is from Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist:

“What you still need to know is this: Before a dream is realized, the soul of the world tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we move toward the dream. That’s the point at which as we say in the language of the desert, ‘one dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.’ Every search begins with beginner’s luck. And every search ends with the victors being severely tested.”

When have you felt the most vulnerable in your career?

I have felt vulnerable a lot because I have made some major life and work changes. I moved to Italy for work and then, after two years there, was offered a job in Atlanta. So, I came back to the U.S. and now I am in Los Angeles. You need to take the leap and trust yourself!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

[separator Engine=”thin”]

Lucie Doughty once told me ‘To always hustle but to always stay humble.’

If you had to make a personal hashtag, what would it be?

Have you heard of #bossbabe or #bossmom? Those would be mine.

What’s one thing most people would never know about you just from looking at you?

That I am painfully awkward! I work hard to put my mask on.

What is your theme song in life?

Don’t laugh. It would be anything Fleetwood Mac, maybe ‘Landslide.’
