5Q: TIGI Worldwide Creative Director Anthony Mascolo

He is the Worldwide Creative Director for TIGI, a loving husband, an adoring father and an inspiration to thousands of salon professionals around the globe. Anthony Mascolo has spent practically his entire life immersed in the beauty industry. After spending a weekend with him in Las Vegas at this year’s TIGI World Release, we asked him to take on our Industrie 5Qs. Here’s how he answered:

Our site/publication is called Industrie and we spelled it with an “ie” on purpose – it’s the French way of spelling Industry and was once defined to us as an artisan who works with their hands to create things of beauty and substance. So tell us, how do you define beauty and substance?

It’s hard to define beauty; it cannot be defined. Beauty to me is seeing my granddaughter growing everyday.

What other creative outlets besides do you explore/practice?

Photography. I photograph the collections and advertising campaigns for TIGI and I am working on a few projects of my own coming later this year.

What’s your personal motto/favorite quote?

“It is what it is!”

When have you felt the most vulnerable in your career?

I’m a bit like a goldfish – I don’t remember.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

What’s new today is old tomorrow.

What 3 things would you never leave the house without?

My sunglasses, my phone and my wallet.

If you’re having a bad day, what’s the one thing that will always cheer you up?
